Haiti Disaster Relief
The January 2010 earthquake in Haiti left an already-impoverished country in desperate shape. The Haitians will need help for years to come, and there are many things we can do to give them help and hope:
- To donate money through the United Methodist Committee on Relief, give or send your check to the church treasurer, Ron Morris, marking "Haiti" or Advance # 418325 on the memo line. Every cent given to UMCOR goes directly to Haiti; all administrative costs are covered by our support through apportionments.
- Donations of health kits will be needed for months. Topeka FUMC donated several hundred health kits which are being delivered to Haiti in early February and volunteered to be a collection point for the donations of other Topeka churches. With the generosity of a donor, supplies were purchased for the youth and children to assemble health kits during the Sunday School hour on January 24.

- Medical mission teams are needed now and rebuilding work teams will be needed soon. Those who are interested in being part of a team must take a special Haiti disaster training and receive immunizations before leaving the country. Please check the Kansas East Conference web site at www.kansaseast.org/haiti for the latest information about training sessions and other team requirements.
