Prayer Shawl Ministry

The prayer shawl ministry of First United Methodist Church brings together knitters and crocheters to prayerfully create a shawl for someone in need of comfort. The group meets monthly at the church and members also work at  home. Members begin each shawl with prayers for the person who will receive it and continue to offer prayers as the shawl is created and when it is completed. The person creating the shawl may not know who will receive the finished shawl, as they are given out as the need arises. Shawls are commonly given to those facing illness, surgery, bereavement and serious losses or stresses of any kind.

The group would welcome more members. You do not need to know how to knit or crochet as current members would be glad to give lessons. Patterns are available from the Prayer Shawl Ministry and can also be found on many knitting and crocheting web sites and on

www.shawlministry.com

Please contact Merry Glover at jayhawker5@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in joining the Prayer Shawl Ministry or finding out more about the group.
