Ruth Smith

Ruth Smith is the director of youth ministry at First Church. She grew up in Ottawa, KS with 1 sister & 3 brothers. Ruth graduated from Washburn University with a BBA in Management and worked for KPL out of college. She then ran her own small business for 18 years and has worked part-time for Revlon, Inc. for the past 13 years. 

Her husband is Mark, who's in the pharmaceutical business - they've been married for 27 years. They have a daughter Alyse who graduated from KU, a son Jordan who's currently in college, and a basset hound named Daisy, who's 2. 

Ruth joined First Church her first year of college. She remembers that Wanamaker Road was still a small, crooked 2 lane road when she first came to Topeka.  She lives in the same area she did while attending college, the Brookfield West area, and she & Mark were Youth Sponsors for 3 years when their daughter was a baby. Ruth says, "It's funny how we've come full circle in our lives."
